quick question can light pass through glass canopy, or do i have to remove it, by the way cool tank

yes light can pass though a glass canopy. though some light will be lost.

wow, nice. i recently set up a planted tank myself (bout to post some pics). What are those fish? They look like small gars or something. or one of those large algae eaters.
