HI MFKs...

I just set up a new 180g bare bottom tank about three months ago with two large Malaysian Drifwood in it. Since then I have been added java ferns and Anubis and attach them on those drifwood. I do WC one every 4 to 5 days... Nitrite=0, Ammonia=0 and Nitrate=40. For Lighting I use two 36" Marineland Double Bright.

My Stock:
8 3"-4" Discus
2 3" Clown Loach
4 2" Congo Tetra
4 Balloon Ram
4 2.5" Pleco
1 3" Flag Tail

I want to know what did I miss with this set up because all my plants seem to die out. They start to change color and rotten. The edge of those leaves turn black. Does anyone here knows what wrong with my tank and what can I do to help my plants to stay healthy? Thanks for any reply.

Your problem is caused by excess phosphates in the water. You may want to test your phosphate level in your water source. Adding some fast growing aquatic plants will help.
