Hello, how u all going?
2 weeks ago i bought 4 new plants for my com. tank.
here is a pic...
thecomm.jpg

the fern near the filter(2), the centre circle-leafed plant with white on it and the long-leafed green & white plant.
The circle-leafed plant with white on it and the long-leafed green & white plant have already died and the ferns are turning brown. I have moved the ferns to a dif. tank where i hope they will become healthy.
I do not have a CO2 system but have bought some new lights which target the plants and help them grow better. They are called aquaglow and powerglow. I bought these just before the new lights and they do not help. The lights are on from 7am til aprox. 9pm each day.
The water parameters are:
▼PH-6.0-6.8(always between these.)
▼Nitrate-Around 0ppm
▼Nitrite-around 0ppm and,
▼Ammonia-0-1ppm
▼Temperature-30C
The tankmates are in my signiture...
Could you please suggest to me some plants which are well suited to my tank and what could be wrong...
Thanx Fishkid.
(PS. sorry i dont know plant names.)
(PPS. please post pics and plant names where possible)
(PPSS. i do use fertiliser once a week)

The problem is that those plants are all emersed plants that will not survive submerged. I'm guess you went to petco/petsmart/petland. Go to a reputable LFS, and check out their stock.

Those are terrestrial plants - I see Palms, Acorus, etc. in there. Unfortunately, even good LFS carry plants like this and they haven't a clue.
This is actually so bad that I don't buy plants unless if I know 100 percent that it is in fact a true aquatic plant. This means all I have are banana plants (aquatic, mind you), Elodea/Anarchis, and a water wisteria (whatever that is), and swords.

Anything else is just plain questionable, in my eyes.

They are dying because they are not supposed to be submerged, and some, such as the palms are not even supposed to have their roots in water.

Palms actually can live with their roots in the water, and actually thrive quite nicely.

That silver plant you got is a Pilea Cadierei.

And like everyone else said, its not suppose to be submerged. Nice cool plant tho.

Most of the time, any plant with weird colors like red. silver, or purple are mostly terrestrial plants.
