my 2 ear old pleco isnt growing.its onli 6-8 inch.hes a common pleco.how big can he grow and how long more.i got him at an inch long

It depends on the type of pleco. Common can refer to one of many different species, some staying as small as 6" some as large as 24". A pic will help, and what your params, and what you are feeding.

Wyld would probably know better.. but i don't think plecos grow really fast.. my (3) common plecos that i bought over a year ago are just now getting to about 6 inches.. (that would be the 3 tailed **** machine that lives in the big tank).

the other larger plecos we have came with the tanks when we bought them... we really have no idea how old they are, Kirby is a little over 13 inches and the cave dweller is about 9 inches. (both are common plecos, just silly names we gave them).

Again it depends on the species. One of my Pterygoplichthys sp. plecs that I've had for nearly 4 years has maxed at only 6", but I've also had some that within a month will go from 2" -12".

i noticed that the cave dweller has grown a lot, but i just figured because he was eating better than the others, he was in the overfed tank that killed my first 3 baby tems. it never even occured to me that he could be a different type of pleco, i always thought a common pleco was just a common pleco..

'Common' pleco is a term that is used for many plecos. Common plecos in this group are Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps, Pterygoplichthys pardalis, Hypostomus punctatus, Hypostomus plecostomus, Liposarcus multiradiatus, as well as several others. The listed are just many of the common 'commons' that are seen in the trade.

What sp. maxed out at 6" wyldfya? Growth rate is decided on so many different factors... genetics, environment (water quality/territory size), food (what and amount)... lots of variables.

Glyptoperichthys punctatus is my guess, but I'm not 100% certain.

So how big do a Titan Pleco grow into? what's it scientific name? :D Just a little curious ;) and the number? L something?

Cant seem to find any information on it on the net

ummm well theres the "titanic pleco" which can be a large 3 footer (LDA65/L203, which is a Panaque sp.). Or theres the "titanicus pleco" that will attain 12"ish (L273, Pseudacanthicus sp.) . Sorry but if neither are what you are talking about, I don't know what it is, I don't care for common names in the slightest.
