My pleco is not eating.

let start with what kinda pleco do you have not all plecos eat algae.

It looks like a common pleco. They're detritus eaters in nature and not algae eaters. Basically he needs proper fish food to be healthy. They enjoy veggies like cucumber or zucchini and like some fruit as well like melon and mango.

I read something about them eating algea of rocks in their native habitat. So basically their just a fancy version of the north American sucker fish.

The long strand algea is pretty tough texture wise. My african cichlids will eat it, but only when if they get hungry.

markstrimaran markstrimaran A while back i got some very finicky L177 gold nuggets to eat using Repashy foods... i never seen them come out of hiding and in the morning all the food where still laying in the tank... i was suggested this particular food by my LFS and they claimed all plecos will accept this no matter what(i use bottom scratcher, morning wood, soilent green) for my 3 L25's i also add (redrum)... after the first feeding i was shocked ... as my L177's didnt take Hikari, Zucchini, cucumber... but i vouch this got them to eat...if he isnt eating at all i would monitor for stressors... responsiveness... breating... cause i had cases where plecos wouldnt eat and i would assume they were eating at night only to find then turned over months later
