Are your fish in salt or fresh?

I'd say the water is "highly brackish". I use about 1 cup of salt for the 55gals. The toadfish is laying on the bottom facing the pleco. He camoflauges pretty well. You can see the reflection of his eye.

Wow I can believe everything does so good.

i cant believe your pleco is still alive lol. not flaming you at all, but personally i wouldnt keep them in brackish water, they dont usually do well. how long it been in there. then again are a VERY hardy species of plec.....

The water has been brackish for about 3 months and I've upped the salt about two weeks ago when I caught the toadfish.

cool cool

i duno, i wouldnt put any pleco in brackish water though just because they come from soft blackwaters, the complete opposite. ive seen plecos kept in brackish water and they swell up really big and develop huge boils as they can not pass excess water because their osmosis regulatory organs can not function. i duno how long it'll last, you may find and be able to tell me in year or two that this variety of pleco can tolerate brackish water, which will be great, but from what i know/have heard, its only a matter of time.
