I had a 45gal tank that was sitting around so I decided to put it to use and build a pleco tank. I first went out to a big local lake and started searching for some drift wood, and found some pieces that were exactly what I was looking for, and then started soaking, and scrubbing, preasure washing, and baking the wood. I then went and got some pieces of slate from my local home improvement store and started making caves with a hammer and a chisel and some 100% silicon. Then I got some 3/4in pvc pipe and fittings and built a under gravel jet system and connected it to a seim 1100 to it. I then used pool filter sand for the substrate.

Next step was put everything in the tank and start the cycling process. I seeded the tank with filter media from a well astablished tank that I allready have. It has been up and running now for about a month, and all my levels are good, some time to get some plecos. I went and got 4 baby brushys that are a inch to a inch and a half long, and cute as can be. I got a spotted hi fin that is about 2in long and will be moved to a bigger tank once he out grows this one. I also got two 1.5 in rubber lip plecos.
So far all these cute little plecos love the tank and a very active. the rubber lips like to hang out in the slate caves and the bushys, and the hi fin are everywhere, they really like the driftwood, and jet system

here are a few picts of the tank and a few of the plecos.

Aaaawwweeee......look at the little guy. Nice.

Thanks for the compliments. I got most of my ides from this site and plecofanatics. Funny thing is untill about 2 months ago I had no idea that there was anything other than a common pleco. Then I got sucked in and fell in love with them. I now have a total of 9 plecos, and plan to get prolly 3 more clown plecos before its all over.

ohh and I also have a 40 gal breeder below the pleco tank that I am debating on what to put in it. My wife is wanting a gold fish tank but I am thinking another pleco tank. It has a small cory and 3 chinese algae eaters in it right now. It was stocked with small catfish, and scavengers but I had a sickness of some kind that I did not catch early enough and lost most of the tank. so now I have another mostly empty tank, that is gonna need some new fishes at some point.
