Yesterday, when I was checking on my fish, I noticed an abnormal swelling in the belly of one of my Polypterus ornatipinnis. Initially, I thought it might be due to something I fed them the previous day (fresh prawns). However, when I checked again today, the bump was still present. As I have been keeping these fish since they were very young, I am concerned about their health. 😟 What should I do next?

If it’s acting normal then I’d not worry. Just skip some feedings in between and not feed daily. I see no decor or pebbles in your tank which is good.

I'm not a fan of using gravel in aquariums, as I have seen many people worry about their Polypterus gulping down gravel and ending up dead. This is the main reason why I prefer not to use gravel, as it's easier to clean the tank without it. Additionally, fish is acting normal . I will also try feeding them less frequently. Thank you.
