where are the eggs? from what i read before.. you need to separate the eggs to a 10 gal tank with sponge filter, plus a heater. i'm not an expert but don't use new water... just get the one from the tank and fill the 10 gal tank. good luck!
yup. if you wait for it to be baby bichirs they might be eaten by their parents. which you don't want... get another tank... 10 gal and if i were you i won't expose it to air. try to keep it under the water using a small cup or pail to scoop it. some use anti-parasite meds so that the eggs won't turn white and die. MFK expert on bichirs!!! come out and help!!!
they layed the eggs yesturday so i think i'll leave them one more nigth to see what the experts on the matter say... like if i should medicine the water and stuff...
Go to the polypterus section for answers no do not medicate the water.leaving the eggs increases the chances they will be eaten polypterids are rotten parents and find the eggs tasty.Anne
Oh, and the fry are very cannibalistic too... They normally eat their smaller (well, not-so-smaller too) siblings. When they hatch, try to separate them when they start growing up. Good luck and keep us updated.
