My Polypterus Senegalus

Hi all thought i would share with you all my Polypterus Senegalus called polyi have had poly now for about 2 months ipoly is currently 4" so looking forward to watching poly grow up,poly is currently in a 3ft tank at present with two gold gourmi's for company i now have a 48x15x18 set up and running for poly
to live (I have been told this is the reccomened minimum size tank for them fully grown) is this correct please.

I will keep this thread updated with pics etc... as poly grows up.

I think poly is male but not sure i hear you can tell by the tails??

The back end of other Polypterus i lost not sure why went through all
the motions of checking and asking advice but a mystry this turned out to be?

You're right, Poly is a male, young but I can tell. He looks healthy and happy, it's a shame, but we've all lost a bichir or two from unknown causes.
