My pond build from last year in pics

I dug and built this pond last year in my backyard. Nothing but a shovel, hatchet, and a wheelbarrow to haul off the mud. I live in south Louisiana and of course I had the bright idea to start this in the middle of the summer with the nice heat and humidity. I ran into a few problems in the build, mainly roots from a giant tree that was nearby the area. I didnt even think of the roots when I started because I had the tree removed after the last hurricane. Needless to say, hacking through roots as thick as baseball bats was not fun.

It took about a month from when I started to get water in it. I'm just going to post some of the pics from it that show the most progress, but if you would like to read the actual build thread and see all the pics on the local fish site I post on, here is a link

My big pleco came out

Started finding some dead rodents in the pond. An outdoor board I sometimes post on said they were moles

Yea could have definitely gone deeper with the amount of liner I had. Before you put liner and water in the hole, it seems deeper than it really is.

I havent had any snakes in the pond. I have had some moles and thats about it
