So I want to make a contained pond in my backyard, it will be 6long x 6wide x 2deep..... And my goal is to put the wild oscar I've seen in my neighborhood pond, my oscar from my tank, my red devil, and a bunch of convict fry..... and some babe bluegill for oscar food. I plan to filter it with fountainheads..... How can I keep predators from dipping into my fish stock?

nets and going deeper are you're best bets

Ok , and how much does pond liner run for?

it all depends... use this pond size calculator to figure out how much your going to need and you can also lurk around that same site for liner and under layment aswell.. since there are different thicknesses i think the 45mil is the best. my friend ordered from that site and when he bought the liner and underlayment they gave him free shipping

Ebay is a pretty good site for pond liners. Go for 45mil thick EPDM. Find the size you need, and then shop around for the cheapest price. Be sure to include shipping costs into any pricing that you find.

Also, +1 on the netting or digging deeper to protect from predators.

Deeper water and some caves to help w/preds.

Any other filtration other than the fountain?

didn't notice just fountainheads as filter, take a look at tuggerd's or mrunlucky's threads for some filtration ideas. (or muske or oconner both have some nice looking ponds as well)

cheapest method that's effective is the 55g drum water pumped to it and pumped back to the pond with filter media in it.

This along with the cave suggestion that Muske pointed out. Otherwise, you WILL get injured fish.

Alright, how much would that be? ^

You can usually find an empty 55g poly drum on craigslist for anywhere from $5-50. Make sure it hasn't had oil or anything in it.

Add in some pvc plumbing from the pump in the pond, to the filter, and back to the pond. Then you'll need the media for the drum. You can use different kinds of media, many work equally well. Lava rock, bioballs, plastic pot scrubbies, sand, gravel, filter floss, bristle brushes, etc.
