My poor aro...

I have a silver aro in a tank with a few plastic plants. He has a really good appetite and love to eat....

So I guess somewhere in the middle of the night, one of the plants got unrooted somehow. My aro SWALLOWED it! Or at least tried to... Half of it with inside and just a few inches were hanging out of its mouth.

We didn't find out until hours later. My dad had to net the poor fish out of the tank and pull the plant out. But it was struggling real hard and now all the scales on its head are torn and some on its now are ripped out from the struggle. My poor silver...

I think he'll be okay, but he's in pretty bad shape at the moment. He isn't really swimming anymore, just hovering in the middle level of the tank with his tail hanging downwards.

Ss the main point is, make sure your plants don't unroot themselves or another fish dig it up. Your arowana might just try to eat it.

I am sure this has been extreme stress for your arow.. it is not very often an arow is handled and then to have to pull something out of his mouth was an experience ..so it may take a while before he gets over this horrible experience and he may sulk and fast for days.. but he will heal and he will get hungary eventually..thank goodness your DAD was able to handle it and react. keep water pristene and keep checking him for bacterial infections but i doubt you will have a problem..good luck
