My roomate/bestfriend is redoing one of her tanks and being that i have 1 african chichlid in my tank she asked if i could harbor hers (just 1) for a few hours while she moved some stuff, rather then her taking up more space with another bucket.

I said sure...biggest mistake ever. :(

Apparently in his tank he is big man on campus because in the 1 hour i was in class he attacked all of my BGK and left them all with torn fins! i immidiately pulled him out and tossed him in one of the buckets (out of rage my BGK are my babies!) and now all of them have torn fins and are scared out of their minds!

and suggestions on what to do? i've never had this happen before, also on helping the poor fella's regenerate their fins melafix, stress coat? help, i'm so sad.

How bad are the fins? Sorry to hear about that.:( Just bump up the temperature and add just alittle Melafix. BGK can be sensitive to meds, so just add a 1/4 of the recommended dosage or add 1/2 Teaspoon every 5 gallons.

might try adding a bit more salt than normal too

the fins aren't really that bad, its just very distressing. I've upped the tempurature a little bit and Delphine (my biggest) who was the only one that really got tore up is right now inside a pvc pipe my mesh breeding separator sleeping (shes behaving normally I just don't want her not getting a chance to eat because shes weaker >.<) I also added just a dash of salt and about half the recommended dose of melafix.
