my oscar will not let up on chaseing around the gt and stresses him out while he's recovering from a previous fight with a jd. I have a 55 gallon with a little severum and red oscar growing out in it... could I put the gt in there and expect it to grow to 12" then put it back? or will the 55g stunt it's growth?

Tank size doe not stunt fish, bad husbandry does.

lol the green terror would punk your oscar. just do lots of water changes and all will be fine

i would put him there until he recovers and gets a little bigger then try again..sometimes it works next time around.. sometimes adding another fish to the group changes everything for the better... sometimes just adding fake plants to the tank so terror has hiding places.. try different things ..

this is unbelievable. I went to the fish store and bought the nicest looking jack they had ( thinking to replace the one I just took out and restore balance) it's a bit smaller than the gt ....but the second I put it in the oscar stoped chasing the gt , but the gt started doing exactly what the oscar was doing to the jack and it's just relentless chasing but no biting or snapping , and I don't think this can be good for the little guy while he's trying to acclimate. now he's just hanging near the top with faded colouring and lookin very stressed.

Buying more fish never solves aggression issues.

lol well it solved one but started another.....

this makes me want to just get rid of all these aggressive fish and just have a tank of uarus and severums......why do all the best looking fish have to be so territorial lol.

when fish are first introduced there is always some chasing.. but it should be minimal.. i hope no one keeps it up too long.. yes because definitly not good for a new fish to go through... i would not give up on these fish just yet.. i have a 125gal with total peacefulness with one oscar, one red devil and one jaquar and two black belts...all aggressive fish that get along just great.. the key is to find the right balance .. but if any fish is at risk then i would separate ..

Hows everything going now?
