My Poor Pumpkinseed

I am just finished patching a leak in my tank so while the tank was drained I am housing my fish in various plastic totes, except for my pumpkinseed fish.

I figured from reading and watching them that they could take the warmer tems of my malawi cichlid tank and hold their own against the africans.

Theyare about one to two inche bigger than the africans and took to the warmer water quite well I noticed right away a little bit of fighting with the africans but nothing serious.

This morning when I checked both pumpkinseeds were hiding up in the corner one had almost all his fins gon and his bottom lip all torn up from fighting with my kenyi who was still picking at them.

i have him quarantined now until my big tank gets back on the go, hope he'll make it.

For future reference the pumpkinseeds are tough little beggars and would have lived with my africans but the kenyi is a relentless mean little bully, next fish to go in there is a convict , lets see him try that on a pair of cons

I think if the sunfish was in the tank before the kenyi it would have been fine. They can be mean little basturds, Ive had them w/ bigger central and sa cichlids before and sometimes they would be the aggresser in fights, and they would harldly ever lose.
 
Well I probably won't put the cons in with them but I was just a little po'd that this happened, I thought the pumpkins would ba able to handle themselves especially seeing as how they wre both larger than all of the africans.

but the Kenyi is a mean little bugger and I knew that, supposedly one of the more aggresive africans and he is my fav fish .

I suspect a convict would be able to put him in his place but then I suspect I would be on here telling you the same story about my poor kenyi lol.

Maby i'll catch the biggest pumpkin I can and put him in see how that goes.:naughty:
 
I would put the cons in there just for a while and let them put him in his place not beat the crap outta him. Then I would add the pumpkin seeds again.:D

With the way my fish are you would think so sometimes.:naughty: But true that would never work but it was also just a joke.
