nice looking pikes, every single one of them look EXACTLY the same, can you tell them apart?

Oddly enough, they all have slightly different girths, Enough totell which is which... and they eat different, Some off top, some as food falls, Some when lights on,/ off.. I can pick them apart easily,
Most people couldn't :D

Cool little predators, we have them at the store, and they are fun to watch.

I started to buy my first pike today but I held myself back because I didn't know a lot about them. I asked the guy how big they got for fun and he tried to tell me around 10" lol.. He also tried to tell me a jaguar was a jack dempsey.

no feeders? They have to be fun to watch eat.

Everyone can color me oblivious for the first few months on this site. haha. I had one of these guys. LOVED him. unfortunately, I lost him about a month ago. The local petstore got him from someone that brought him in 'cause he was outgrowing his tank and apparently bashing into the sides of it. The top part of his 'beak' was bent down so I believe it. He was always able to eat fine though.

Because I owned the business next door and knew the pet store employees quite well, they came over and asked me if I wanted him because if not, they were going to put him in the freezer 'because they grow to be three feet long and we couldn't justify giving him to anyone with any size tank smaller than yours.' But I guess that's justification to kill him. :(

Anyway of course I said yes and he lived a happy couple years in my tank, surviving the move from the business to the house as well. I don't think he grew another inch. He was probably about 6" long. They also told me he was a Gar. I never looked it up 'cause I had never seen one before, and I didn't know what a gar was so I kinda took their word for it.

Personally i would rather have fat healthy long lived fish, then to get a little bit of enjoyment out of watching them eat!

They Eat, Hikari Floating food sticks, Frozen Bloodworms, brine shrimp, Krill, Earthworms, Flakes, and Cichlid gold!
