:eek3: :nilly: Help me please my pride and joy my giant fan shrimp pinchy has been laying on his side and back and not acting normally! He seemed close to death (his inards werent moving as fast) so I moved him into my 10gal he seems to be slightly better he is standing now, he is my first invert and I'm not sure how to diagnose him please help!

Sounds like pinchy is getting ready to molt. Keep the tank dim and undisturbed. Remove large tankmates that can do him harm before his new carapace hardens. Also, add 2 drops of regular medicine-cabinet iodine per 10 gallons of tank volume. Inverts need iodine to fascilitate their molts. Additional calcium is also needed to create a proper new carapace. There should be enough calcium in shrimp pellets. Otherwise, add some crushed oyster shell to the tank (washed out, of course).

thats weird he just has molted a month ago. well nothing agressive in my 10g he's just in a dark corner dont worry the bulb has gone on that tank anyway lol.

Hmmm well water params are spot on on both tanks and he is hiding in the log in the 10g now so no pics.

Hope he's okay...
Is he an African Fan Shrimp? Big Dark and Scary?
If so, I've got 2 little ones at the moment and I got some good advice from other MFKers about them, so hopefully you'll get some good answers soon.
Pics would help, but its hard to get these guys to pose isn't it!

Does he look like this....
