Hi,

I know it's not monsterfishkeeping but this forum is the most actice on the fish keeping hobby. You see i have a spare 30 gallon hexagonal tank. It's a more high than large tank. I've been thinking about putting some livebearers in it. I just have some questions about the project.

First what kind of filtration do you recommend to keep the tank clean ? What kind of decorations, subtrac would you put in it ?

I am thinking of doing a mix tank. I would put some guppies, some mollies and probably some zebra fish because i like those fish.

So i would have a tank full of color and also very active. There would always be movement in the tank. I know that the babies would be a problem but i got a spare 75 gallon that i can set-up for the baby. It's just that space is somewhat of a issue right now. Is it better to just go with one strain of guppies, one strain of mollies and one strain of zebra fish or should i mix with different colors ? I know that i may end up with some weird looking fish if i do mix the strains.

So i can get some fancy fish off ebay if they do ship to Quebec,Canada or just put some mix from the local pet store. And on the 75 gallon what filtration do you recommend if i do have to use it ? The tank is not perced. Thanks in advance for your input it will be really appreciated

Well in my opinion I would put all the guppies, mollies ect in the 75 with sand on bottom or gravel. And with lots of plant or something for the babies to go hide when there born they'll have a blast and make the 30 the growout for the babies. If So the 30 il put 1-2 sponge filters so they don't get sucked in the filter. And for the 75 propaly a 20-30 gallon sump. (Also buy the time you notice that one had babies the others would of eaten them).
