Alright so I have this small cali round ray and lately I have noticed that he is acting weird. He doesn't bury himself in the sand as much and he is always trying to keep the majority of his body off of the sand. I took a close look and there is either some sort of white worm on his skin or it is like dead skin or something. this is only on the bottom of his disc. now he even tries to keep his tail off the ground. Could it be the sand having lots of worms in it or the ray just getting sick? HELP PLEASE

I agree with using prazi but make sure this is what it is. Did you just get the Ray? And posting some pics would help.

If you do have a parasite of some type, you need to ID is prior to adding meds. Prazi is good, but doesn't kill everything. Most of the time a worm will show up on the back first.

I'd guess you're ray is settling in.... hence not burrying as much. The 'white' stuff might be the outter layer sloughing off. What are your water parameters? Any fish in with it?

Nitrates are a little high. Changing water today. I've had the ray for a couple months and he normally doesn't act like this. I have other fish in there and he is the only one affected. The worms are very small and white and only on the bottom of his disc, mostly around his mouth. He swims around more, trying to get them off I believe.

Interesting, wonder what it was. Usually Prazi only gets the adult stages and you'll have more hang on from egg/larval stages.
