I've sworn off goldfish altogether for my piranhas. The nutrition provided by anything from the family Cyprinidae is just awful (piranha nutrition thread).

I've been feeding mostly raw shrimp and tilapia, which they go for, especially if I thaw it a bit in some garlic water. Today, however, I fed some live trout worms that I picked up at the bait store.

WOW! They just attack these things like crazy. The worms are locally grown under organic conditions, so there's no risk of pesticides or hormones in them. I just can't believe how aggressive my fish are toward these things. It's unreal.

In the spring I think I'll start my own small scale worm growing operation so I have a steady supply of healthy live fish snacks. I should have plenty for panfishing too.

mine are the same way. reminds me of a dog playing rough with a rope. they just instantly attack them and throw their head back and fourth flippin worm everywhere

Silly kids n your goldfish BS. Always hilarious. If your soo worried about goldfish stunting your fish, why do you feed raw shrimp a lot? they're no better than goldfish other than possible illnesses from golds. If you feed a good variety diet there's nothing wrong with feeding goldfish or shrimp. Worms are one of the best foods available for fish. Pellets, silversides, white fish fillets should all be in rotation for food. More things the better IMO.
