My RD laid eggs two days ago. am I correct in understanding white ones are unfertilized? 99.9% of these eggs are a translucent-beige color. there are about 5 or 6 that are white, and some are the beige with white on one end. would you say these eggs are fertilized?

unfortunately, the only males (for sure) are convicts. I have an O, sex undetermined, who looks like he kinda took a minor beating, so I'm thinking he could possibly be the father, too. the RD has been kind of flirting with the oscar recently (kind of attacking, but being gentle with her mouth).

I'm emailing phone pics now, will post soon.

Here are the pics:

Sounds like you have a fertilized batch of eggs. I would be surprised if it was the oscar, but stranger things have happened. Convicts will spawn with anything. In fact, I think someone started a thread about his convict and devil spawning last year.

How ugly would a cross between an oscar and a RD be? is that even possible? convict may be the more likely father, but the flirting I've been witnessing makes me wonder...

I can only imagine. Huge oscar mouth with fat devil lips. Tiger stripes and a nuchal hump.

Ugly!

I guess I should divide the tank? what are the odds any of them will survive, if I do nothing?

about 15 of the eggs turned white ovenight. is that normal? any advice is welcome, I'd like to see some of them hatch. I'm curious to see what these fish end up looking like. I'm sure my LFS will take them off my hands (hopefully, anyway, I'm not gonna have room for 50 RD hybrids for very long, anyway).

or they could just be a treat for my oscar. I want to raise one, though.

okay, now some of the eggs deffinately have some fungus growing on them. what should I do?

If you can, remove the ones with the fungus.
