I have 2 red belly pacu and neither will eat. They are about 10" long each. The started not eating much and they would come up to the top and splash all the time. That is something they didn't do all the time until they slowed down on eating. Over the past 3 weeks they have slowed down to not eating at all now. They just swim up and down splashing water all day.

They have great color. Something I did notice though is the lower rear 1/4 of there body the scales have black on them. I don't know if that is normal or not but I didn't notice it till this week.

What could be wrong? The tank there in is still big enough for them and I had planned on building a larger tank for them but with them acting this way I am afraid they won't make it very much longer.

Need a ton more info. Tank size? Temp? Filter? Last water change/gravel wash? Food items tried? Water test results? Throw us a bone. We're good but we're not clairvoyant.

Tank is 150 gallon. Temp is around 80F. Filter is a Flovel canister. Food, pellets is what they were eating, they would scarf them down as soon as they hit the water. They have eat some recently but still not feeding nomal. They have about 40 neon tetras for tankmates so they also get flake food and they have not been trying to eat it either. They have eaten grapes every now and then. The water test normal and I change about 25-50% of the water weekly with a gravel clean. The water stays clear. The neons have been in there since the pacus were about 4" long and they have never tried to eat one even when they were eating good and the original 40 are still in there with them.

Maybe do a waterchange and gravel cleaning, also what exactly do you mean by "test normal"? Are they any more flighty than normal? Do they appear healthy any change in appearance or anything such as that? Perhaps try some diffrent foods? My pacu scarfs down frozen krill and fresh veggies like...well a cow.

your blessed, your pacus WONT eat! id kill to get them to stop!!!

give em some rosy reds. fun to watch and fills em up(but you can never really tell because they just keep eating. unfortunatley with them growing like an inch every three weeks fish just start disappearing from my tank.

My pacu has never eaten another fish. I keep a small shoal of giant danios to clean up after the oscars and despite the fact the danios are like 3" and could easily be a meal for the others none of them even try to bother with them :)

They started eating more now. Still not feeding like they were but they are getting an appetite back.

They have never eaten another fish. The neon tetras in the tank have never been touched by them.
