I got a 75 gallon with a emperor 400 HoB and undergravel filter, with gravel.
I got a couple of medium sized rocks in there and no plants. I havent decided what type of plants yet. Looking for something with easy care and low lighting.
I'm not sure whether to get a fluval 405 or fx5. What do you guys recommend. Thanks in advance :D

well i have a 125G with 4 8inch RBP and im using an fx5 and it works amazing job! i would say for a 40G is a little over kill BUT you would have to up grade for a while

you should try some Amazon Spears...I bought some for my tank and they are pretty easy to take care of I have two 40 watt aquarium lights...but mainly they get natural sunlight...they seem to growing just fine..just a thought....

go with FX5, it's a great filter and you won't be disappointed. over filter is never a bad thing anyway.
as for plants you can go with low light plants like amazon sword, java fern, anubias, etc.
java moss should be fine too.

the fx5 is a great filter, I think it might be a little much for a 75, but over filtering is never a bad thing, especially with rbp's
