I used to think he was just popping bubbles but I noticed he only strikes the surface when the light in the aquarium is off. My only guess is he wants to fight the guy on the other side. If you watch it till the end you can see how worked up he really gets.

Nice RD! I think some fish see drops of water on the lid.you can get him some toys- my texasXjag hybrid has dog chew toy hanging at the top.you can try ping pong ball, or other floating stuff.I had a rubber worm used in fishing tied to line, but my fish never had interest it

Thanks. I have a couple of hermit crab shells in there that he moves around the tank. I've want to put a pingpong ball too but I haven't got around to buying one.

It must be pretty funny seeing the fish play with a dog toy.
