bummed out, my stupid red legged hermit crab ate my small sand-sifting starfish,.woke up this morning with the starfish stuck in my filter spout.i took him out and he started to move.the filter sucked two arms off(i felt so bad about it)he moved along the subtrate fine so i went to work,came home to find the crab CHOWING DOWN ,there was only one arm left, he finished him up.so sad.i didnt think he would be so vulnerable.

Its not uncommon for a hermit to go rogue and be quite predatcious, but, of all the hermits i have kept over the years, this has never happened to me...Shame to hear of this though..
that's interesting as I have red legged hermits, blue legged hermits and a green legged hermit. The red legged hermits have been MIA for about 3 weeks, the blue legged guys tend to themselves the green legged guy killed and ate my conch and tried to go after my turbo snail today, but the turbo just moved up the glass.
