i need a help.. i got my red-tail cuda who's around 15 cm, and also a somberoides, he's around 8 cm.. the problem is.. my cuda is faster and anticipate his tankmate when it's time to eat.. today i gave them 10 NEON to be eaten.. the cuda eaten 9 of them.. and the scomb the last one... i tried to give them not live food.. but the don't eat.. wat should i do to make the scomb eatin more? have i to separate them?

Yeah try the kickass way!

I have some scombs and they are slow lurkers, and I through in like 30 minnow somtimes so they can eat!

put more neon^^ if 10 is not enought try 20 .. and so on^^

That's what I would do, feed the cuda until he's full and then the scomb can eat all he wants. I had the same thing when I had scombs with hujeta gar.

yea predatory characins only eat when they are hungry. So if 20 doesn't feel them up add more.

as others have suggested and probably more simple... always keep the tank stocked.

or you can try a range of feeder fish.

i notice my cudas stay mid to top of the water, and the scombs near the bottom floor surface. Around here, feeders come in all kinds. Depending on what's available, can try using feeders directed at the water level a fish normally operates at. For example, minnows stay topside. Tetras or more mid i think? a feeder fish sold here called "beach fish" it only swims alongside surfaces such as floor or walls which is good for the scombs and tats.

One thing i did not think of is with your cuda being allmost double the size of the scomb. Put a couple of large feeder fish in for the cuda to eat and after he has his fill then dump in some feeders that the scomb can handle.

My cuda's will eat a feeder that is half there length as long as it the same body shape as them. Long and slender, and i use 3'' fat head minnows for them at 7''. But my scombs and Tat's would never touch a feeder half there size unless they were starved. They would normally easily consume feeders 1/3 of there size and down. With any body shape.

Also your cuda will eat more frequently than your scomb will. My cuda's will eat at least one feeder a day at 7''. But my Tat will only eat every other day to every third day. And once or twice a month the Tat will eat mutliple feeders in one day.

thnx to all.. i will try.. anyway, it seems that the cuda is never full enough.. he continues eating.. and i'm tryin' to feed em with not live food.. but i think it's impossible...
