I have a 10 year old RTC. He is BIG!!! In a 5000 gallon tank with GREAT water quality. I haven't seen him eat in 5-6 weeks. He normally will eat out of my hand. He still looks fat and happy. He is with an Arapima, Alligator Gar , Pacu, and a TSN. He's been with those guys for years. Any ideas/thoughts/suggestions? Or am I just being overly concerned for no reason?

Have you checked water parameters and such?

Wow, do you have a tank overview thread?

Please, post concrete water parameters in ppm. Words won't do here. Please use a test tube of ammonia-free water for reference when measuring your ammonia level as opposed to the API color chart.

If your water is good, I'd think about possible overfeeding. The most common cause of death of adult RTC apart from accidents is overfeeding, clogging, and dying of indigestion.

Another thought is about natural causes but this is unprovable and we know no such data to state anything of coherence.
