My "Red Texas"...or is it?

Hey dudes, first post on the forum. Been lurking for the past few weeks and wanted to get some clarification on this guy (or girl) that I have.

When I first got him, he was all nipped up when I first picked him up, but he's all good now.

Here's a picture from tonight. It's not the best but every time he sees me with the camera he always darts up near the top...otherwise he's always swimming at the bottom near the front glass.

Sometimes he is pretty dark red with black stripes down his body, and others he is fairly pale. The red on his fins is definitely getting more vibrant when he has his full color. (I just glanced over at the tank right now and he's actually really red, but I know the second I get close to him with the camera he's going to get shy again and lose the color, but I'll try and snap a better picture for you guys)


I read another thread from a guy who also had a labeled RT which was verified as a non RT, so I'm pretty sure mine is not also, but either way some clarification would be cool!

Thanks in advance for the help! Red Texas or not, he's an awesome dude with a ton of personality. Can't wait to see him fully grown.

Here's a little bit better of a picture I just managed to snap. He looks super green, this camera really blows for getting good shots of him haha. But hopefully this is a little bit better for verifying what he could be!
 
i picked him up from a shop out here in vegas, trop aquarium. they had him labeled as a RT but i was pretty sure he was mislabeled. decided to take a gamble on him anyways haha.

i've only had him in the tank for maybe 3 weeks now and he's definitely the most entertaining to watch

i actually saw the big petsmart FH and RT thread and have been curious about trying to get a hold of one of these petsmart "rt" just to see what happens haha.

i'll see if i can get a better picture today of him so you guys can better identify him. thanks again!

I found this thread last night from another member who is local to Vegas and my guy looks like he could be somewhat similar. Anyone have a better opinion on this? I'm wondering if maybe my guy came from one of the breedings from his guys.

Word. Was fairly certain he was not, but didn't hurt to ask.

Anyone have any other guesses as to what he could be?
