My Reds.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wow! fast growers lol. and wow, 15-20 a day...holy Toledo!

nice Ps, and welcome to MFK!!

Man, I think I jinxed myself posting pictures. The night I took those one of my filters [a Magnum 350.] started making a noise. I took it down and cleaned it and could not get it to prime. I fought with this thing for the last 3 days and just now got it to pump.

My next acquisition will be either a homemade sump of some sort or a nice Eheim filter. I'm running two large Bio-Wheel filters and two magnum 350's. I've grown to hate the Magnum 350 and plan to trash mine as soon as I get something to replace them.
To top it all off, my camera broke that night also. I took those pictures and the problems started. I thought it was the batteries but it actually broke.

No more posting pictures for me!

have you tried not feeding them for a day or so, then get a fillet of white fish and dangle it in the tank(using fishing line). so it is off the bottom of your tank. HTH

I've tried the fishing line method as well as clipping chunks of fish but they want no part of it. I've not fed shrimp for a couple days now. When I drop fillets in they nip it a couple times and let it sink to the bottom and ignore it.

I don't know if it's common or if my fish are more spoiled than I thought but they won't eat ANYTHING once it's hit the bottom. Even with shrimp, if I drop one in when they're not hungry and it hits the bottom they won't touch it.

Beautiful reds.. so sparkly and healthy looking... good job raising them from that size.. keep up the good work..

Well we will just have to see if we can come up with something else.

I'm sure with all the knowledge on here, we can find something that will help you.

I think I've found the secret. I soak the fillets in garlic water for an hour or so and they eat it pretty well. They don't go crazy like they do for shrimp but at least they eat it.

What's strange is these Piranha love flake food!

Nice P's Ohio. I see you're from Dayton. I used to live there. Did you get your fish from Gerbers?

Thanks for turning me on to Gerbers. As I said, I've been away from this area for almost 20 years. Until you posted about them I was stuck shopping at Jack's Aquarium and Petsmart...Either of which had anything exciting or interesting at all. After visiting them I feel compelled to get back into Marine tanks.

nice and your keeping plecos with them too awesome
