I got some hydro sponge filters. Its such a simple filter, I know, my canister came with an instructional dvd (which I have never watched), this thing doesn't even come with an instruction sheet (just the way I would normally perfer). Your supposed to run a powerhead through it, at least thats what I thought, but how?????? I have a koralia and a seio and I can not even begin to think of how I could hook it up to this thing. Please help, and be gentle.

You just stick the intake from the powerhead down into the top of the sponge filter, and it pulls the water through the sponge. I haven't used one in awhile but my old powerheads (hagen I think) had little stem adapters so they'd sit flush in the top of either UGF lift tubes or sponge filters.

sounds like you just slip the sponge over the intake just like sponge filters work

^^^+1 what he said

Thats what I thought, but my powerheads are too big. I just looked up some powerheads on petsolutions and from the looks of it, I had in my posession the only two powerheads that would not work. Maybe I can take one apart and make it work, otherwise I will have to buy the other type.

What I have

What I need to have

Alright well I least I get it now, thanks

Yikes yeah does not look compatible with those two a big drawback for those types. The maxijet powerheads are cheap however and I love my aquaclear ones...

you dont have to use a powerhead, you can just put an airline into the top connection of the sponge filter. it should have a nipple that will fit airline. usually its located in the middle section of the sponge filter, like where the sponge itself goes around. the top tube piece comes off, run the airline through the tube, connect to sponge filter, put the tube back on the sponge filter with the airline running through it.

It doesn't flow nearly as much but it still works.

obviously bubble do not displace/move as much water as a powerhead does and if you really feel the need to question that i dont think you should be around more than a cup of water without an adult...
