My Retic (see thread "New rays - extra issues with Reticulata rays") who is no longer eating her blackworms now seems to have an infection. There is a thin line of white fuzz along the side of the tail up to its body just above its pelvic bones. See picture - the visible part of the fungus in the picture is a white line right by its pelvic bone (ps I have been trying a lot to fatten her up).

I had feeder guppies in the tank and the guppies were nipping at the fungus. Well, obviously I removed the guppies.
I wonder whether the infections started from the guppies or from the tip of its tail falling off.
I also wonder whether this is the reason she is no longer eating the blackworms which she loved previously.

What kind of treatment would you suggest? Does she need to be separated from my motoro?

Thanks

ur ray is so damn skinny... no joke dude, thats what mine looked like b4 it died. hope it makes it bro but i think its on that slow death. thats not fungus, its the pelvic bones showing dramatically. or so it looks like so

Yes, I know. I had her on blackworms and she really liked them but stopped eating them. I thought she was starting to get back on track but stopped eating them entirely a few days ago.
Ture, the bones are really sticking out but there is a fine line of white fungus showing - look just past the pelvic bone closest to the camera. The fungus actually goes along the side of the tail to the mid-tail point.

i dont think its fungus, jus like the slimecoat wearing off. i hate to do it, but i'd have to say your retic never really ate at all. jus pounced on it and seemed as if it was but i doubt it ate. mine did the same for 30 days, then jus got skinner n skinner til it looked like yours. then poof, started lookin weird then died. very very frustrating, but retics jus dont like eating in tanks sometimes unless there captive bred.

Thank you for your thoughts.
You may very well be right. Here is a couple of other pictures to see if it helps. The white line is about 1.5 inches long.
I have never had fungus happen before so perhaps I don't know what I am looking at.
Any other thoughts?
thanks

I think ethnics could be right, and it wouldn't be good as they need a slimecoat. melafix and add salt, make sure you have ultimate oxygen. But to be honest that is one very skinny ray, that needs some food straight away. I would try to feed the best i can, lights on lights off, as many different foods as i can throw at it, see if it finds something it likes. It's not in good nick, and i hope you can save your ray, but i wouldnt be sure if you could if it's not eating. I'm sure some of the more experienced ray owners might chime in to help.

the fact that its top coat is wrinkled looking just screams how skinnie it is, there's no meat on her to keep the topside lookin smooth. i tried to even "inject" the food in my starving ray, she jus spit it out her blow hole thingie on top by her eye. beggin for death.

The drama is over. My little retic died this afternoon. At least she is no longer suffering. I tried my best but she just wouldn't eat.
Thank you for your help.

My Motoro, on the other hand, is eating great and looks great.

I heard that the retics were picky eaters but...wow...she just didn't eat anything.
