Well this morning, i wake up and i lay in bed for about an hour, then i finally get up and there is my rope laying on the ground. i imediately grabbed a net, picked it up and moved it back and forth in the tank. When i picked it up, it was completely dry, but it moved a bit, and when i put it in the tank, it swam off.

He is acting a little wierd, but i think he'll be alright.

I just decided to post this to be sure people make their tanks as escape proof as possible. After this, i took some aluminum window screening and siliconed it over all holes. I'm hoping he can't replicate this feat again.

watch it cloesly for a couple of days for any sign of infections. Its slimecoat is probably gone but it should regenerate within 24-48 hours-Anne

You might want to add a bit of salt to help it recouperate, and as blondie said, keep a watchful eye over it.

i thought that rope fish have a set of lungs or something so that they can be out of the water longer then most fish. This is what i heard, not a fact

They do have lungs however as their body dries out it tends to stiffen making it harder and harder to breath-Anne

hopefully it will be all right thay can take breaths of air i had one out for 3-5 hours befor i found it and it was fine i think mine got flung out or something he was in a little puddle and probly would of been fine for a while longer

damn.....the guy died. just came home after taking a trip to omaha and he was dead. idk if i should get another one or not. i guess i do have like 20 days to make up my mind on it.....i think i'll wait until i get my new tank, then decide. he really was an awesome fish though.

ya, idk if i'm going to get another one. i have to get some sort of fish from there, they won't let you just get credit. The store i got them from doesn't have a whole lot of selection, they do have african butterflys (but i already have one) leaf fish (already have one) ropefish (idk about it again) and everything else is pretty much ordinary.
