I have been to countless forums but I never get any replies. I love my rope fish but one of them I brought home has gotten terribly sick but everyone else in the tank are fine. She was fine the first 3 days then boom she started barely moving and not eating. The other rope fish I have in my tank is still doing fine as well. I check on her very frequently because she sits so still I keep thinking she’s dead. Her fin is almost, like ,disintegrating and she’s getting white splotches on her skin. Please help! I’ve been using Artemis to see if it would help with her symptoms but so far nothing has changed. I don’t want her to die and just need advice!

I’m only 18 and I love the hobby and most of my money gets dumped into this fish tank and I’ve never had this problem before. feel free to tell me if anything is actually bad because I honestly don’t know but how does fin rot happen? Could she have came with it ? And yeah I’m going to order those now. I’m about to do a 40% water change because I do have two goldfish who like to wreak havoc on the whole tank but I love them so .. haha .

I’d make sure to check ur ammonia but ur tank isn’t cycled completely. Would make sure ur doing ur water changes. What’s ur water change schedule? How often are u feeding? Is it eating? How long has the tank been setup?

Order one of the antibiotics I mentioned. Make sure u do a water change prior to adding antibiotics.Preferably a large water change.

Looks like fin rot to me
Happened to some of my catfish and tetras.
After using the medicine regularly and water it got better

I just ordered the furan2 and yes I make sure to keep my ammonia in check because I’m constantly worrying about it. I have the big canister filter and I have an ammonia reducing pad as well as ammonia reducing cubes to help me keep it under wraps. I also use “ammo lock” to help combat it as well. I do water changes once a week and it’s usually a 25%-35% water change. The tank has been set up since the end of august 2019 but I wasn’t aware of how bad goldfish really were and had a large ammonia problem that knocked out most of my fish besides 4. Then after I did that I didn’t get any fish and just did a complete water change and complete filter replacement and just kept the four fish in there. Thennnn I had this huge algae take over that drove me insane because no algae-killing liquids were helping. so, I took the four fish out , scrubbed the whole tank and plants, drained all water and did ANOTHER complete filter change and after that the algae hasn’t come back. I still didn’t add any fish and just kept the four that had survived. January , last month, is when I started adding some fish again. It’s a 75 gallon and I’m just trying my best to keep up with it I suppose. I’m hoping the furan2 will get here quickly and I’m doing a large water change tomorrow, probably a 75%.

I also took out my filters so they didn’t suck up the medicine

Thank you both! And of course I just noticed her flipped over on her back and there are these little worm- looking brown parasites on her. You can’t see in the pic but do I need to get her out of my tank?

I’d leave the fish and would dose prazipro (asap) in the tank till the furan2 gets to ur home. I don’t think it’s gonna survive. Once it does this it likely won’t make it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
