Well, if you didnt already know.. im the proud owner of a RTC, hes only 5in now and lives happily in his 100G tank, but obviously this will be short lived, seeing as how he will get HUGE :nilly: So, ive talked to my parents about building a pond, i would be paying for it myself, and my parents will match whatever i put in.. i have 3,000 in savings from working, Christmas and bonds, and was just wondering how big a tank i would need to happily support him for life, i live in SOCAL so im not worried about it freezing over, even though i will still use a heater.... any feedback helps, thanks

99 dollar target pond should do the trick...atleast for a long long long time. Otherwise the best IMO is going concrete, either above or below ground. Then it will last forever and theres no liner to worry about leaking.

You are very lucky to have such supportive parents

I would think an above ground cinder block tank with a viewing window may be possible with your budget if you can do some of the labor yourself.

There are excellent write ups on making these tanks and how to seal them and install viewing window ect.. on this forum

Good luck and be sure to post pictures when its done ;)

Very Cool parents :D

My advice to you is too build a standard issue 2000 or so gallon in the dirt, rubber lined pond, figure out how to keep the water heated in your California "winters" and put the remaining $2500 in the bank. :D

Start digging.............

yup, use half for building and save the other half for feeding that monster.
