I have had this cat about a month and a half,he was in a 20 gal long with a Marbled Pim,(BOTH AROUND 4 INCHES)while the Pim continued to grow the Hybred hardly ate(maybe once or twice since i had him).I decided to put him in my 125 with my larger cats(Lima,Sydontis,Sun cat)well it has been like 4 days and he is eating like a Pig!!!and i swear he has grown a bit(he ate 3 feeders today,)but his tail is getting huge!!!I swear his tail is almost half the size of his body!!And is a deep red, even redder than my old RTC,mean while my Pim seems to want to be a loner, but continues to grow!!!Eventually these 2 and my Lima will be the only fish in this tank.I always read that RTC/TSN'S grow fast but in my case it isnt so,my Marbled Pim is growing twice as fast!!!Is this normal???Can anyone post pic's of these cats if you own 1 or both(i always love looking at these cats full grown!!):headbang2

very sweet take some pics, i have had one 12+" amd have one now thats about 9"

Yeah my Hybrids did something similar to that when they were really tiny... they refused to allow their hunger take over... then one day (after a tank change actually)... They decided that food was a good thing and have ate everything I drop in there with them. I beleive thats just the senses kicking in though and telling them that they had better get big soon or else LOL

Nice cats!!

I actually had the opposite happen with my rtc/tsn...HE TRIES TO EAT EVERYTHING!! LOL

Now he's in with my gulper cats because they are too fat for him to consider food, but he is growing like a weed. I was actually debating on starting a thread on his growth rate because I'm convinced that if I watch carefully I can see him growing. :grinno:

Anyway, here is my L. longibarbis who is just over 17"...going on 18" very soon. He's about 16" in this pic, but it's a couple of months old.

You guys have some really nice looking cats!!!Well since i put them both in my 125 gal they are eating like PIGS!!!!I am really happy now, they both eat shrimp, earthworms, and i have caught them eating Cichlid sticks that fell to the bottom of the tank,YES!!!!!!.

That's great that he's eating all sorts of foods. My guy tends favor market shrimp over anything else. He'll eat pellet every once and a while, but only what falls right in front of him...he won't move out from behind his driftwood for anything but shrimp. :D

You know what's also weird with mine...he won'd touch live...I'm not complaining, just surprised. I'll throw in some shiners from the bait shop for a treat for my bass, aros, dats, and gar and the marbled won't even show interest in them. It's kind of funny...all of these shiners find refuge by piling around a 17" catfish...:screwy:
