A few weeks ago my sagiattae started going nuts during feeding time.. Every time I feed him he hits the food really hard splashing water all over the place and hitting his head on the lids.. Its really annoying because the other fish are starting to do it too and it's pissing me off :angryfire Does anyone know how to stop him? I he continues I'm going to move him out I'm tired of cleaning his mess and can't stand the other fish starting to do it :wall:
Does anyone have any suggestions?

My snooks hit the food pretty hard but have already gotten good at not hitting the lid.

The only way I can think of for you to stop him is to buy sinking food. NLS makes a semi-sinking food too but I've never tried it.

I tried that already the midas and the saggittae don't like them they only eat pellets that float..... What pisses me off is the water getts all over the place on the glass on the floor and on the wall behind the tank... And the other fish seem to be starting to do this

Here's how I have to feed. I put some pellets in the lid of the pellet jar, then crack the tank lid open a few inches, toss in the pellets and very quickly shut the lid. Otherwise I'll get a bath. With their hardy appetites and the competiton for food, they get quite rambunctious at feeding time. It's quite a feeding frenzy but I love it though!!! hehehe

Even with the lid closed the water still gets out through small cracks and through the space between the filter and the lids...
Does anyone have anymethods to make them stop?

Try lowering the water level. You can't really stop cichlids from not being pigs lol. You just gotta find ways around their feeding habits.

glue spikes to the bottom of the lid. they will learn there lesson

You could always stick your hand in the tank so that the food goes to the bottom of the tank.
