In there grabbing some lotion for my awesome sun burn and decide to go over and look at the fish. They had this fish in a tiny little "display" tank where he looked miserable. All it did was sit toward the bottom and would move around a little when you got near the tank. Now I have it home and it's swimming around like crazy, hiding in the plants, and chasing the others around. It's about 4 inches long.

I was thinking it may be a Metriaclima greshakei but the more I look at he/she it doesn't look like it. Especially the white and black on the pectoral fins. The orange is very vibrant on the tail and dorsal but my room being bright orange, it kind of takes away from the color.

Looks like a female metriaclima greshakei to me...nice save...I rescued 2 male bettas a couple days ago that were in the same small cup together...one got badly torn up and was really stressed...

I would definitely say she is happier. I had her six days and she started holding eggs. She's now 17 days into the hold. Pretty excited being my first African to hold, even though I know they breed like crazy and all that. Still exciting (: She's a lovely fish, I reach in the tank and she will swim right up to my hand and by my fingers and everything, even while holding. She's very people friendly and will greet you at the front of the tank when you walk by it.
