He's been a prime grow-out for a while now. Going to work on developing the KOK more now on him. I just moved him to his new bare-bottom tank and his colors are popping.

It is due to genetics, and if there are any genes for it a good quality pellet will help.
It all depends upon on genetics after that what matters is water quality,tank setup followed by proper balanced and quality diet ie. Varied diet which also consists of live feed. Hope this helps.

it's a bonsai fader btw, I have same exact looking one, except mines about 4-5 inches now. His orange will be deep orange and go all the way to about 2/3's body and the yellowish-light orange will be the rest. It'll maintain those small blue pearls throughout and finnage should remain the same coloration. Faders can have yellow, orange, or red coloration.
I'm doing a 50% wc ever other day and feeding him sera fh mini pellets. I"ll move him over to a divided up 55 soon enough too.
