I've been wanting to ask about this for awhile now. But could never get a good enough pic with my cell phone. So here is a pic, taken with with my digital camera.

Has anyone ever seen this? There is a pin hole sized hole smack in the middle of Uno's tail! Weird! It's been there sinced this fish was 2 inches.

I think my sen had a hole like that in his tail but then he thrashed it when the ornate grabbed a hold of him and tore up his tail. When it healed the hole was gone.

i dont think thats a bad thing. i wish my bichir had a hole in its tail. it would be like a unique thing about it.

now it can painlessly get its tail pierced. dont do it -_-

Heh, its weird how perfect it is, like if someone took a tiny hole punch to him, its cool though.

lol the other day I saw my sens covered in white spots so I grabbed the ich medication and salt and then he swam away and all the sand fell that was stuck to him :s

I think maybe he had a torn fin when he was a baby and it healed in an odd way.

Hello,

don't worry about it ...

The healing abilities of bichirs are normally astonishing - sometimes my bichirs are biting themselves (during feeding) and from case to case the tail fin gets some little injuries. After two days you will see nothing of this ...
When i got my P. polli years ago he had really bad injuries on the covers of his interior gills - you could even see the bone structure! After ca. one month this injuries couldn't be seen at all.
On the other side on of my P. senegalus were injured on one of his pectoral fins ... i call him "Nemo" now (but "he" is a female ... what the heck).

If bichirs get injured as babies it is possible that the healing isn't as well as it is the case with adult specimens - it's theoretical but i had seen enough bichirs with that astonishing healing effect when they are bigger ones and those who were injured as babies and didn't heal anyway ...

Greetings
