my new 180G tank that the Dovii will move into as soon as it is completed. may move the jag girl in there from the JD tank untill the dovii become too aggressive and then set her up on her own and find her a male.

lastly i have this little planted vase i use it to keep Daphnia in and few snails and shrimp (call it "the look at me" tank because its out side the toilet so every thing seems to look at you). its really just a novelty idea i seen and though it was cool. it seems to work well.

Lookin good. Have any close up shots of fish? Id also like to hear more about this vase... looks interesting

the Vase started as a bit of a laugh if i'm honest. my wife acquired it from a friend and it was a running joke that cause it sat empty with a few bambo things sat in it that she was going to put a goldfish in there, well one night i was sat on the net and seen a nice planted natural tank that just had snails and a few shrimps and stuff and after while they added mountain minnows, so next day i empty it and cleaned it and stuck some tank plant substrait in and added a few plants and some daiphnia and a bit of wood i found in the garden. it went well for first two weeks, the idea is you just top it up and let it sort its self out but this failed because i didn't relies the small bit of wood was picked up of the beach by my kids so i basically turn a small tank into a salt tank....

so i flushed it and ditched the plants in my nature pond and started again. this time i left the water to set for 3 weeks with just substrait init, the same stuff from first attempt and just did 50% water changes. i was shocked to see small bugs cutting around in there. then i added some new plants and then daphnia, the snails came in on the plants and then i added some scuds i have a working project on and that was that, i'm now doing a small water change weekly and top up what is lost. i have had one miss hap which was it got infested with mozzys so i put a couple of small stickleback fry in there from the pond and let them clear it up then they will go back in the pond and ill leave it to steady it self again. i may add some fancy shrimp later but its cool, it just sits there with all the activity there is always something "looking at me" in there hahaha.

i got a few pics of some of the fish ill get some new ones soon.

the JD is my boy he is perfect but a bit rough on the girl some times but they quite happy in there, i tend to not mess to much with it now i moved all the others out about 3 months ago.

the grow out tank is chaos at the moment hense the tubes it give it calm although its my fav tank to watch. my JD's just sit in there spot only mouching to feed and breed lol. the tubes in the grow out give everything a bit of quite, the dovii are the smallest, and it give them a way to get away from the convicts. two hide in the tubes one tubes lead straight into the convict nesting area so he feeds on there fry when ever they on it, the other sits by the filter above the birch and cleans up after them. its one of them tanks where there is always something to watch. the birch are my sons i only kept reed fish before so these are intresting to keep, once the dovii move out this set up will get a make over/ up grade for them and ill probably keep the convict and kribs in there to breed and do as they do as i use the fry as feeders mainly. once the 180G set up i may sort out another fry tank. the wife stolen my other and filled it with live bearing fish, two figure of 8 puffers and a BGK ( pics to follow) this will also need an upgrade soon or ill move the knife out to a different tank. I have a plan to cut her live bearers back lol although the puffer should help me on that one.

i like less fish in the tanks as its easier to cover what they need and keeps it simple. i only wanted to keep the JD and Dovii but got hooked again lol
