So I’m new to this hobby and this forum too. My fascination for Rbp’s grew very quickly over a few months time after seeing a tank of them at a party. So I have done all the reading and research on these creatures, bought all the books and now after throwing a lot of money around I finally have my tank set up. What I want to know is what do some of you Long time keepers of piranhas think of my set up? As in Is there anything that is way too over kill in the tank that I don’t really need or am I missing something I really should have but not know of ? I have a 120 gallon tank housing 4, 1 inch Rbp’s. It’s filtered by 2 Eheim 2028’s. I have a Eheim aqua ball power head pushing the water over the surface for better circulation, 2 tetra 60 air pumps with 2 bubble bars along with two 200 watt heaters. A Pentair Digital Temp Alert and all the normal aquascape stuff with plenty of hiding spots and places to swim around and under. I also have tinted the glass under the lights so the light isn’t too hard on the little guys.

Good to hear. i was going to go with the tetra 100's but i thought that would be a little too over kill on the oxygen part.

add another 100 watts heating.

No sorry no pics yet, i'm dying to take some though. So you think the two Eheim 2028's are not enough filtration for a 120? and one more 100 watt heater ? is that a precaution just in case one of the two dies ? because the two are doing a great job heating the tank now. Thanks for all the suggestions so far by the way.

The 2 eheims 2028 are more then enough filtration, anything above that is just a waste of money. With heating I would add anymore there either, unless the tank is subjected to cooler temps during the winter.

Pics would be greatly appreceated.

Sounds good though I personally wouldnt dim the lights. Over time your guys will get use to it and act normally under the bright light plus youll have the satisfaction of seeing them better.

A 120 is 4x2 right? Id throw 5-6 more RBPs in there. An overstocked P tank that is still maintained right to have good water quality is awesome!
