Well...I've lurked on this site long enough now without posting pics of my setup, so I guess I will put a few up here. I do have to give credit to all of you guys on here, because 95% of my information came from this forum.

My first tank is a 55G SA setup, which has been running for a little over a year now. I run a low pH (6.2) in this tank, which has gravel bottom, and is filtered with an XP3, and a AC70. XP3 is setup with sponges/efihiemsubstrat pro/carbon, and the AC70 is setup with sponge/carbon/sponge. I use a Stealth heater in it, and it's been running for about a year with no major issues. Currently it is stocked with 2 JD's 6" and 4", 2 FM's about 4-5" each, and one con. I know it's a little heavy on stocking right now, but I had to take one JD and the con from my brothers tank a few days ago. I am in the process of finding new homes for them. Agreesion in my tank is pretty minimal, the only time I had an issue was when I pair of breeding cons in there, and after one breeding period, I got rid of them.

My 2nd setup is only a few days old, and it is a 37G SA hybrid tank. It is filtered with an AC70 sponge/carbon/sponge, and an AC50 filled with efhiemsubstrat pro. Again, I used a Stealth heater. This is my first attempt at a sand substrate, and so far I love it. The inhabitants are 2 platinum convicts, and 2 electric blue jack dempseys, which I stumbled upon in a visit to my LFS this week. Tank is a tad cloudy due to the sand I just put in there. Sorry about the blurry pics....these were the best of the worst.

The fish in the 37 wont fit forever though.

Thanks.

Yeah...I know about the 37. It was one of the impulse buys i'm imfamous for. When they grow out, I am going to just keep the platinum cons in there, and pray I have 2 males or 2 females. The electric cons will go to another tank, hopefully when I find a new house. I have a 125G tank sitting in storage right now that I got on craigslist for an unbelieveable deal. I don't have the room in my house right now for it though.

The platinum con is a HRP x Pink Con, and the Electric Cons are supposedly a EBJD x Con. Hybrid in the sense that they are the not the traditonal SA cichlids.

i've never seen an eb con

nice tanks though, and i LOVE sand except when it is first put in and it makes your water cloudy, but that goes away eventually.

nice setups, i wish i would have started out more like that then what i did!

The jury is still out on the EB con. As it grows, I'll see what it looks like. Someone in another thread mentioned it looks like a HRP, but we will see. I think everyone on here went through the aquascaping pains with thier first few tanks. It takes a while to find out what your taste is. I started out with a 20G tank with dinosaur skulls and multicolored gravel. Back then, you could not tell me that my tank looked bad. Now that I look back on it, it was hideous. I always set a tank up, and then came on here or saw another tank that I liked and wanted to redo mines. These days, I'm a huge fan of driftwood, lava rock and slate. Now that I've tried sand, I will most likely set up the 125 with sand when put it up.
