I know the clown will eat just about anything it can fit in its mouth, but do they adapt well to new tankmates. Mine is about 14" & I'd like to add some more bichars & maybe a few smaller pike species but I can only get them from 2 to 3 inches & I'm afraid he will eat them. I'm wondering if I put feeders in the tank when I introduce new fish if he could tell the difference, size, shape, etc.

Provide some hiding spots..

When the Clown Knife realizes he can't catch the more agile, quicker, and smarter Pike Cichlid, he will give up on chasing him.. Whenever I add tankmates to the Fahaka tank, this is how he is too..

my clowns dont mess with new tank mates that have any size on them

14" Clown Knife will consider a 3" or 4" fish lunch no matter what, IMO. I would just get a larger one or grow it out in another tank until it's at least half it's size.
