After I did WC on my 225g today my severum was acting really strange. It was jet black, eyes and all and looked like it was twitching or convusling really hard with it's mouth fully extruded (like when they yawn or get a piece of gravel stuck). It freaking spat out a yellow jacket! I know the bee was alive a minute before that because I just swatted it away from my gatorade. Now it's really dark and swimming on it's side.

Fish encounter bee's in the wild so does it have defensive a mechanism against being stung? Is there anything I can do?

This is the actual bee inside the tank. I got the bee out already.

This is how the fish looks right now. Dark, very stressed seems dazed.

This is how it looked yesterday. Note the difference from above.

Come on guys. I haven't found anything on Google. Anyone know if this will kill me sev?

well thats odd, never even heard of this happening, hope all is well. i would think that they would have a defense against it as like you said in the wild bees fall out of the sky all the time.

hope all is well with the sev...

Well... The sev looks perfectly healthy 24 hours later. I know it sounded dumb but I was a little freaked out when I saw that. I don't know if they handle it often in nature or not but mine did fine by the next day... That has to be the most random fish keeping thing to ever happen to me. If I hadn't seen it I would have never known it happened! I can only imagine it happens in the wild from time to time and by looking at my sev I would assume they are equiped to deal with it. Thanks to those willing to respond.

Nice to hear he's fine. Never heard of that happening before, I thought it would be pretty normal for a fish to eat a bee, but i guess there some side effects.

I've been looking at this post for awhile. and each time i wonder exactly what prompt the bee to attack the fish.. I gotta admit thats very interesting color change on the fish... but i'm glad he's back to normal....

thanks for the story.. i'd been sure to not feed any of my fish a garden bee when i see one...
