so this is my severum. He/she is about 7 inches. Can anyone indentify the sex from these pics? (please pardon the water spot glass). ALSO...is this a green severum? I ask this because of the red bar he seems to have up by his eyes and the basically turquiose coloring? I keep reading about turquiose severums and the red shoulder severums.
Btw...this fish is aggressive. He is by himself/herself in a 75 because he won't allow it otherwise.
anyway...thanks for any input.

Yes, looks like a male rottie to me also. Just hasn't developed that really red shoulder as yet. Perhaps never will, considering his size.

Male rotkeil

The long fins and the headmarks suggest male....the orange eyes leave a small chance for a female...but it's a picture so you know better! (usually males have red eyes...if I remember correctly)

However, with Sevs it's always USUALLY! You can never be sure if you don't see breeding signs. ......even though, if you see more than one sign (ie long fins, head marks, eyes etc)...you will most likely get the gender right.

PS: Greens and Roteil are almost the same. Just take the red out of the Roteil and you have a Green Severum. Some argue that roteil are a bit more aggresive but IMO it is always about the fish itself!
