Ok I know there is a sticky for it but just wanted some quick thoughts. Before my I went and got my shoal back from friends house, I had a pbass n some catfish(idk species, but it black and looks similar to a Pleco) in the tank. Once the shoal were put into the tank, the pbass n catfish were fine. After 6 hours, I saw the pbass in the corner of the tank right below the water level scared out of it's a**. the piranhas were eye ballin the shiet out of it! I was lucky the piranhas were adjusting and werent hungry. The catfish on the other hand surprised me. That bad boy is swimming with the shoal like it is one of them! It's been about 2 weeks now and catfish is still doing fine! It has few cuts on fins and 1 circular bite mark but other than that he is doing surprisingly well with my shoal. He probably got them from annoyin the shoals by always trying to swim next with them. You think it is too early for knowing if he will be with them forever? I know RBPs are unpredictable. Thoughts? I feed my shoal only once a day n keep the temp at about 77-79.

No its simply a matter of time before it becomes a snack my friend. Very suprised its lasted this long. Maybe not today but prlly tomorrow.

When it comes to tank mates, try crawfish, snails and ghost shrimps. I love crawfish

Right? it really surprises me that this catfish is still alive and sucking on plants, dw, and practically everything. I also added two redtail tetras. One was active and one just stayed by the top of the tank near the water level. One got eaten.... can you guess which one? The active one is actually still alive and doing well... Eating up all the scraps of food after the shoal is done as well as the catfish.

when i had my shoal i had a 12 inch common pleco that made it a year until becoming food for them...it really is only a matter of time. I don't recommend keeping it in there.

Only reason I don't care was that I got the catfish and p bass for free when I purchased the 80g. I woke up today and thought the catfish n tetra was gone... But once I turned the light on.. But appeared from the shadows

The catfish is about their size too. It's not intimidated at all... Maybe that is why. But the tetra is just always on the watch. LOL

i had a pleco in my tank when i first got my shoal too. probably 6 months or so before my thermometer broke and the liquids spilled and the pleco was found belly up. not a single chomp on it. attempts to add a new pleco was abandoned after they ate 2 lol

Since the catfish is doing well maybe I should add a common Pleco.. Mine ass try now than fail later

Same with me minus the spill, I had 2 original shoal mates about 4-5" with a big 14-16" common pleco, sold him off just cuz the bio load wasn't worth it, no attempts to kill it by the rbp, just to big I guess.. then I again they were well fed. There's actually a thread on here were the new owner complains that it stirs the crap out of his tank, then he got rid of it and I felt bad, 16" needs a 75 min imo.

Just bought a Pleco at the lfs... Going for attempt #1 which will be the one and only time. Hope it doesn't catch the attention cause it's like tanish and not a common dark Pleco.. If Cat fish can do it, this Pleco can too! Atleast for a period of time, but hopefully forever!
