i have 3 silver aros bout 5inch in a 6ft grow out tank n they dont seem to have that much appetite. i feed em freeze dried bloodworms n hikari sticks. they do eat but not like a pig n that worries me. they hv been in the tank for bout 4 days. do i have to wait longer for em to 'really' eat? help! im worried!

let them adjust. silvers are really skittish and sometimes they take a while to get used to the environment.

also with them being 5 inches and the tank being 6ft they might be having difficulty finding the food. IME i fed them in the same spot every day. i wouldnt worry too much about them not pigging out, i'd just be glad they are eating. sometimes they would go for periods of time fasting so keep that in mind as well. good luck. btw is that a 125 gal or 135?

ok thanks. its a 180 gallon. n should i be worried that there's a dominant silver among the 3 of em? its my first time mixing arowanas. the dominant one nips the others sometimes. does this subsides over time or is it something that i have to put up with?

yesgood advice.... 4 days isn't enough time to say they are adjusted..... make sure each one gets a little to eat a few times a day.. if possible.. small amounts more often is good for babies...

It takes time to adjust to the new tank. It's normal for it to not to eat when you first get them.

i have read that silver aros when kept in a group and there is a dominant one, that the dominant one will push the others into the lower columns of water and will keep them from getting food. just make sure that they all get enough to eat.

now, in my personal experience raising 3 silvers starting from about that size i had one that was definitely the dominant fish that would bully the other two i had. maybe i got lucky or something but all three of them seemed to equalize and they don't really pick on each other too much. now when one fish gets too hot and i see it i'll net his face or something to freak the fish out and detract attention from the other fish. it seems to work.

congrats on your purchase and good luck with your aros!

Not to dis your success, but putting a net in their face? Sure it is going to distract them, but you can't be in front of the tank 24/7. I have tried tactics like this but the bullying certainly don't stop because of that. They keep it up when I am not around. This is true for any fish.
