she is staring off with a 20gl and ive told her to read up and cycling and research what fish she wanted . today she sent me some pictures(look at pic number 3:ROFL:) anyways can anyone suggest some fish? ive shown her eb ram,angle ram,Betta and random tetras, she said she wanted a blue fish but i can think of anything else

20 gallon and wants a blue fish? A fair amount of apistos are very blue... rams as well but I'd recommend against them for beginners because they're so sensitive. Tetras like cardinals or neons... Convicts might work but tank is a little small... But they're very hardy and breed like rats.
 
Apistos are a pretty wonderful option but as said above are pretty delicate. To be honest I think 20% of the ones I've owned have been on death's door just from the ride home from my LFS. If color is the main thing, maybe a turquoise-strain dwarf gourami? Btw, long time observer first time poster. Wonderful place you guys have here. Looking forward to posting a lot of queries of my own.

brichardi .. attractive blue fish with flowy fins.. and in typical african form hearty fish and easy to keep.
 
@aclockworkorange i like the idea of apistos with 12 or so cardinals if i can finsd them in my area i might go that route.

@gruntking those are nice how many can i keep in a 20?
