i think he jus got excited during feeding time. i slid the lid over like 5" so i can hand feed everyone smelt. and i was doing so til i realized meilings aro doesn't really like hand feeding. so after everyone else ate, i started throwing in smelt so her aro can eat. b4 i knew it, i reached down to grab more food and bam, another flying arowana. it was my smaller one not meilings and it landed right next to me on the ground. i looked at it in disbelief, it was a simple net her n toss her back in but I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!!!

even the more experienced aro keepers have mishaps at times. he lost a few scales tho, but he's doing fine n even ate more after i tossed him back in! lol to bad i wasn't videoing that feeding time, it woulda been one worth seeing

sorry to hear... scales will grow back in no time.
I'm so glad that I have never had an aro jump on me. ...I think I just jinxed myself.

i had one jump on me when i was moving him to a different tank. It jumped so high. Now im afraid to even lift up the lid when he's close around. I wait til he swims to the other side of the tank. =)

yah, it wasn't that big of a deal. more like "what the hell jus happened" i guess. i wasn't worried about him dieing or anything. jus like, whyyyyy lol

I had him in a big 30 gallon tub with a window screen on top...slowly rolling him into the next room where he was gonna be hanging out and BAM!! He knocked the screen up in the air and flew out.... flopping all over the floor!! I had a hard time getting a grip on him, but he was returned to the bucket with little injury.. I got lucky!!!

I put him back in the tank he looked okay but stayed near the bottom, I thought he was just stressed and then I came back in 2 hours and he was stiff as a board and dead. He hit me in the neck and then landed on hardwood. I bet he fractured his skull or something.

your a crazy taco...

arowanas can take plunges, you'd be surprised. my tank is over 5ft tall and he plumped on the concrete in my garage... took it like a champ and back in he went.
